Sapphire is a superior material for harsh environment windows. Sapphire has several unique features, wide transmission range from 170nm to 5.3 microns, high thermal conductivity properties and outstanding hardness.
Sapphire Windows being approximately five times stronger than glass are typically used as pressure windows and in high temperature applications as it can withstand temperatures up to 2000°c. As sapphire has such hard structural strength, much thinner windows can be manufactured for when space is a premium which can be useful. We supply a range of random-cut sapphire and C-cut sapphire windows.
